If you have an interest in complementary and alternative medicine you may find this website useful.  It is a collection of material put together by the University of Maryland Medical Center and contains information on treatment options including osteopathy, herbal medicine, massage, acupuncture, ayurveda, hypnotherapy and many more.  It is nicely organized and easy to use.  It also includes a discussion of medical conditions by organ and symptoms. 

“Joe’s Project” : New helpline for loved ones of suicide victims June 28, 2007

The Suffolk County Medical Examiner reported that between 1997 and 2006,  an average of two Suffolk County residents a week committed suicide.   Suffolk County has funded a new program - Joe’s Project - to assist the loved ones of suicide victims.  The Family Service League and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention manage the program.   Trained volunteers can be reached at 516-869-4215.  They provide help for suicide survivors and information on family counseling, survivor support groups and community education.

Keep this web site handy: www.poisonprevention.org  It contains information on how to prevent accidental poisonings and what to do if you think someone has been poisoned from a medicine or household chemical.  According to Poison Prevention. Org  “more than 2 million poisonings are reported each year to the 61 Poison Control Centers across the country.  More than 90 percent of these poisonings occur in the home.”
